At the Emmaus Center, we believe supervision is an important professional and ethical resource for those serving as spiritual directors.
In her book, Looking Into The Well, Maureen Conroy, RSM, suggests that supervision is, "the processing of the inner experiences of spiritual directors that are evoked during direction sessions in order to help them grow in awareness of their reactions and responses, to allow them to respond in a God-centered and interiorly free manner and to maintain a contemplative focus."
As directors, our ability to recognize what is going on in us opens us to be present to how God is moving with us as well as those with whom we are privileged to sit.
We offer supervision for spiritual directors primarily in individual format. We do so in person, via phone, and via Skype/Facetime.
