COMMUNITY COVENANT

This covenant identifies and governs the behaviors, practices and thinking of this community of spiritual directors who choose to practice in this ministry together.

~   We choose to commit ourselves to serve in the ministry of spiritual direction.

~   We freely choose to come together and practice spiritual direction in a certain way, using a model of spiritual direction that is ethical, based on our training and experience, as well as on our own relationship with God.

~   We agree to promote, foster and sustain the ministry of spiritual direction, supervision and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in appropriate and ethical ways.

~   We are a community that consults with one another, helps, encourages and supports one another, learns from each other, lifts each other up and offers honest feedback when appropriate. To foster and sustain this type of community, we meet regularly, typically once a month.

~    We pray for each other routinely and covenant to be a community of prayer.

~   We identify, rely upon and utilize our trusted resources for our own spiritual direction, supervision, mentoring and continuing development as practitioners and as a community.

~   We are a discerning community, noticing and sharing with each other the movements of the spirits.

~   We establish and abide by an ethical code of conduct as practitioners and as a community of spiritual directors/supervisors [see separate Code of Ethics document.]

~    As members of this community, we meet those we serve in settings that are sacred and confidential.
