ABOUT US

In February, 2015, one of our founding members sent a letter to some friends as well as those she serves in the ministry of spiritual direction and supervision telling them about a dream she had been carrying with her for a few years.  The dream, she said from the beginning, was not hers but seemed to be from God.  She was advised by her mentors to turn the dream loose ~ tell others who may want to participate in it.

In the ensuing months of 2015, she began to hear from individuals who received the news of this dream.  Some said that if work began on the dream, they wanted to be in on it from the beginning.  Others said they may not be able to participate immediately but wanted to pray with her as the dream unfolded and perhaps join in later.

In January 2016, a small group of individuals who indicated they wanted to be part of the dream from the start met.  Under the guidance and leadership of Rev. Dr. Rebecca Langer, the group began a prayerful discernment process.  In June 2016, Rev. Jim Bowler, SJ, met with the group to offer insights and counsel from his own experience.  This information seemed to move things to a new level of discernment.

From this deliberate process of discernment, the Emmaus Center for Spirituality was born.
