Group Supervision for Spiritual Directors
The Emmaus Center for Spirituality is pleased to announce an opportunity for group supervision for spiritual directors beginning in Fall 2026.
The Emmaus Center believes that ongoing supervision is an essential component of the ethical practice of spiritual direction. Supervision provides a confidential and supportive space in which spiritual directors can reflect upon their ministry, deepen their awareness, strengthen their skills, and attend thoughtfully to the sacred responsibility entrusted to them.

The Group Supervision Process
Before each meeting, participants will be invited to volunteer to present a case from their spiritual direction ministry.
The case presentation and group supervision process will generally take approximately one hour. During the remaining time, the supervisor will facilitate discussion and respond to relevant questions concerning spiritual direction, supervision, and the ethical practice of this ministry.
Participants will be expected to honor the confidentiality of all information shared during the group supervision process. Additional group guidelines and expectations will be provided before the first meeting.
Meet Your Supervisor: Eileen Crusan
Since 2007, Eileen has been serving as an experienced spiritual director. She completed a four-year formation program in spiritual direction, graduating from Villa Maria Education/Spirituality Center. In serving as a spiritual director, Eileen most enjoys working with individuals who genuinely want to explore, deepen and enhance their relationship with God, their own spirituality and experiences of God. She admires those who are eager and committed to doing the work involved in the direction process and who possess a healthy, real sense of humor for themselves and life in general.
In 2012, Eileen completed her supervisory training, graduating from the Together in the Mystery Program, a supervisory training program formerly affiliated with San Francisco Theological Seminary. In supervision, she enjoys working with students and directors who aren’t afraid of making magnificent mistakes. She is energized by those who seek opportunities for ongoing formation through supervision, who want to enhance their skill sets and ensure they utilize ethical practices as they serve in the ministry of spiritual direction.
Eileen serves as a faculty member with the World on Fire Spiritual Direction Formation Program, a four-year formation program for those who sense a call to serve in the ministry of spiritual direction. She has also served as an instructor with the Together in the Mysterysupervisory program.
Eileen founded Holy Ground of the Carolinas, where she offers spiritual direction, supervision and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. She offers these opportunities for individuals and groups, virtually or by phone. She is grounded and trained in Ignatian spirituality and delights in offering the experience of the Spiritual Exercises to individuals or groups.
Eileen is member of the Emmaus Center for Spirituality in Charlotte, NC. She is also listed as a spiritual director and supervisor with the Ignatian Spiritual Direction Initiative [ISDI], an organization that is part of the Office of Ignatian Spirituality.
Fall 2026 Schedule
The Fall 2026 series will consist of three monthly 90-minute meetings held via Zoom. Meetings will take place from 1:30–3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on:
Looking Ahead to Spring 2027
A Spring 2027 Group Supervision Series is also anticipated and will consist of five monthly 90-minute meetings via Zoom.
Spring meeting dates and registration process will be announced in December 2026.

Application Process
Applications are currently being accepted for the Fall 2026 series only. Applicants should not submit payment when applying.
Applications will be reviewed, and each applicant will be notified of the decision by email. Those accepted into the group will receive payment instructions and a payment deadline. Payment may be made securely online or by check.

- Currently work with an individual supervisor and would welcome an additional opportunity to learn and grow through a group process;
- Have difficulty accessing individual supervision; or
- Find group supervision a more affordable option for their current needs.
Who May Participate?
This opportunity is open to:
- Experienced spiritual directors who have completed a spiritual direction formation program of at least two years and who receive spiritual direction regularly, typically monthly; and
- Students currently enrolled in a spiritual direction formation program of at least two years who also receive spiritual direction regularly, typically monthly.
